VEB-Leasing sealed a deal to purchase ten EP2D electric trains from Demikhovo Machine Building Plant. The eleven-carriage trains will be leased out to Central Exurban Passenger Company (CEPC), the largest commuter rail carrier. The first train has been already delivered to CEPC. The trains are to shuttle passengers to and from Moscow and suburbs on the Kiev, Riga, and Kursk main lines of the Moscow Railways.
“The project aims to support national manufacturers and develop transport infrastructure,” says Artem Dovlatov, Acting Director General of VEB-Leasing.
The EP2D trains are designed for commuter services on electrified railways with track gauge of 1520mm and overhead line system operating at 3000V DC. The route speed of the train is 120km/h.
VEB-Leasing uses leasing arrangements to provide support for the domestic economy.
